SPRING
- Do a visual inspection of your roof for any loose or damaged shingles
- Clean gutters & downspouts of any debris from the winter
- Inspect your driveway, patios, & sidewalks for cracks/damage from the winter and repair as necessary
- Reconnect your hoses and test outdoor hose bibs
- Have your HVAC cleaned and serviced by a qualified HVAC technician to help ensure the A/C is ready for summer use.
- Stain/reseal your deck and other wood surfaces as necessary
- Visually inspect exterior trim and soffit and paint/seal as necessary
- Have irrigation systems turned on and calibrated
- Inspect window screens and repair any holes, etc...
- Have lawn fertilized and treated for spring/summer
- Inspect basement walls for any cracks/leaks
- Inspect attic
- Test your smoke detectors and replace batteries
- Test your carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries
- Clean/power wash exterior brick and siding
- Deep clean your house from top to bottom
- Spray out and clean garage cans to remove winter grime
- Prepare your grill for use by giving it a good cleaning, filling propane tanks, etc...
- Inspect and flush your water heater to remove sediment buildup
- Change your furnace filter
FALL
- Have your fireplace/chimney cleaned and inspected by a certified chimney sweep to get it ready for winter use.
- Check caulking around doors & windows throughout the house to see if any needs repaired.
- Clean gutters & downspouts of all those fallen leaves/debris
- Do a visual inspection of your roof for any loose or damaged shingles
- Have your HVAC cleaned and serviced by a qualified HVAC technician to help ensure the furnace is ready for winter use.
- Vacuum your air return grates
- Seal your driveway, sidewalks, and patios to help protect it against the winter roads salts etc...
- Clean out your dryer vents to help ensure they are clear of lint buildup
- Reverse your ceiling fan blade direction to push warm arm down during the winter
- Test your smoke detectors and replace batteries
- Test your carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries
- Rake leaves, aerate, and over-seed the lawn
- Have carpets cleaned
- Have irrigation systems flushed and winterized
- Check under your sinks for any small water leaks
- Check caulking around tubs, showers, and sinks
- Run all gas powered lawn equipment until the fuel is gone
- Clean humidifier, change filter, and have it ready for the dry winter air
- Drain hoses and remove from spigots and shut off water supply to outdoor hose bibs if possible
- Check outdoor lighting and replace bulbs if necessary
- Cover or store away outdoor furniture
- Have lawn fertilized and treated for winter
- Change your furnace filter
